Color

A house's color can create a vibrant compliment to it's landscape. Skillful use of color can influence the perception of the home. Color, go boldly.

Before on the left, after on the right.

After 25-plus excellent years, it was time for a color change. The goal was to bring meaning and upgrade the house's appearance by capturing the nuance of a craftsman bungalow. The craftsman style is based on Japanese architecture. That is why you see so many Japanese gardens with craftsman architecture. These new colors aren't a preference of taste; they have meaning. The red door in Feng Shui represents prosperity, wellness, and luck.

The landscape upgrades make this a beautiful home, and the color change plays a significant role. You can't see it in the images, but the house's stucco is extremely heavy in texture. When up close, the light blue color always appeared dirty due to the stucco's surface creating shadows. The new deep olive green creates an excellent canvas for the landscape and absorbs the shadow lines—a perfect example of color-solving a blemish.

In addition to the landscape enhancements, the unexciting beige home has been transformed into a playful, beach community color palette.
