Gates fight gravity and require attention to detail. Therefore, their components and construction method are essential to long-term success.

Vertical Iron Wood compliments the house’s natural wood doors.

The hand-stained vertical grain Douglas Fir wood elements attach to  the brown powder-coated steel frame.

Pre-manufactured powder-coated aluminum components comprise this gate and fence panel system. No welding is required; this is an excellent lightweight, corrosion-resistant, customizable option. A digital lock code provides secure entry.

An Asian-inspired garden gate concept featuring bamboo, reed, wood, and metal. The space within the frame surrounding the metal bamboo leaves creates a window into the garden.

Powder-coated steel frames and sturdy hinges support this wide driveway gate system.

This Japanese-inspired gate is one of my first gates. It’s over 25 years old, all wood except for the fasteners. It is the only gate I’ve built featuring all-wood framing. This gate has taught me much. A lot of TLC has kept her well-functioning; worth the effort. Never a non-metal frame again.

The open gate shows the courtyard’s twin gate and fence panels beyond.

A modest side yard gate featuring metal frame construction clad with natural Iron Wood and stainless steel fasteners, flanked by a self-watering vertical green panel.
